If you go to Wuhan, the breakfast is way different than other place, very few people eat youtiao in Wuhan because there are lot of more better choices

I didnt think the average visitor could just stay anywhere and any hotel.

I like you better in those clothes than in your suit.

We have something like those deep friend dough sticks where I'm from although they're typically stuffed with white brine cheese or ground meat. Also, stay away from the soy - it will make you grow bitch tits and soft feelings.

wonder where a westerner would buy clothes? Everyone there is 4 ft tall! Oh, I hope you never get a hole in your clothes

I ate pretty much liang fen when i was in china as breakfast its spicy but very tasty if you mix it well.

I liked the fried dough sticks and the soy milk right away, didn't need to get used to it at all. Could have something to do with me being born and raised in Germany, where we have something pretty similar to the fried dough stuff too. Here it is a seasonal thing though, which you only get during carnival time in winter.
Beyond that it might be that I have an unusual thing for bland food personally, even by German standards. I often suspected that maybe I have something like color blindness, just in my taste buds, if that makes any sense. I mean that maybe I taste less than normal people, because the consistency and texture of food, how it feels in your mouth and when you bite into it, has always been way more important to me than how it actually tastes.

Where is the Caffeine?!!

Hey have you tried putting brown sugar in congi? Doesn't work with all but I find some actually taste really well as a dessert

My dad (white dude) loves chinese breakfast whenever we go to Taiwan, but I really can't stand most of it even though I grew up exposed to it.

Doesn't look to bad I really hate western breakfast foods, to bad the food is bland

I would kill for a steamed bun now. I lived in DC for awhile and got used to all the food choices...central Minnesota, not so much.

I've had all of these while in China. I find the breakfast more appealing there than here. I especially like 小米粥, 和 馒头

So in China I would have daily bad start. Love breakfast. Thanks for sharing.

Rule: EVERY food that tastes BLAND in Asia is supposed to be eaten WITH something else. You don't eat it as is. Just like rice, you don't eat rice/porridge on its own. We have sauces or any other thingies/toppings (meat, stir fries, etc.) to put on it. And vice versa, we also usually don't eat anything that's flavor-rich on it's own. It's like an unspoken formula: Bland stuff + intensely tasty stuff= good balanced flavor food.

what about 肠粉? it's my favorite

1:45 Wtf the chinese symbol for deep fried looks like a fryer ! :D

So weird how everything is served in plastic bags :/ It's not like they have scientists researching whether or not the plastic is leaching into your food, what temperature is safe to use with certain plastics, etc..

Haha, your story of being mistaken for Russian reminds me of being in Italy. I saw a gorgeous woman, big smile, tiny waist, nice curves, so I go up and tell her "I think you are absolutely beautiful, and I'd really like a picture with an Italian woman, may I take a picture with you?", and she laughed, and said "I'm Brazilian, do you still want a photo?". Still have that photo to this day lol..

Deep fried oil stick are named farturas in Portugal. It is a very old receipt. In Portugal they eat it on the beach or amusement parks/markets. They put cinnamon and sugar on it.

Mongolia isn't China. It just isn't. The Mongols have a long, unique, precious history.

Soy milk, tofu, assorted vegetables being vegan in china wouldn't be that bad.

I'd lose some weight fast there.

This popped up in my feed and I was like why Chris Pratt is in China.

This all sounds really gross. I don't think I'd find most Chinese food palatable.

Steamed buns are delicious

Congee is so ubiquitous all over Asia. I was suprised to hear about it in China and here in India we call it kanji. Then I checked out the wiki page for congee and was so suprised. But where I'm from we use it mainly as a dish when recuperating from an illness.

can china come to me with that amazing food? lol that looks so good

0:01 mm what an appetizing sound.

I don’t understand why congee is so unpopular in the West when we have grits and stuff, lol. It’s so good with a little soy sauce and chicken or fish 👌

In America a typical breakfast in a small town hotel is pretty awful, but there’s usually a Waffle House nearby, which is the king of American restaurants for the cost to quality/taste ratio.
