Xinping is another one of China's very ancient towns and was once the largest town along the Li River. Xinping has a 1,300 year old history and is close to Guilin (63 kilometers/39 miles) and Yangshuo (25 kilometers/15.5 miles). Many tourists take one of the large, double-decker boats from either place to here, probably like Steve and I did, over 25 years ago.

The main draw in Xinping is to walk down the 1 kilometer/.6 mile street lined with old brick buildings, assembly halls and inevitable shops and restaurants for tourists. A pretty little town that will take the casual visitor less than 30 minutes to thoroughly see. Take a walk and then go boating on the Li River; that's what we did...
