Way safer than Detroit and Chicago. also any gang areas I've been through in major cities across the U.S.. But in a large city if you do stupid things you will probably be in trouble no different than any major city in the world.

+ JasonFonger.....you are a totally misinformed and misguided individual if you think that 'Thailand is no worse than many other countries'! And quite honestly your opinions are not only wildly inaccurate but do an injustice to the countless highly researched and reputed sources out there.
Firstly, I recommend you get a hold of a copy of John Stapleton's 2014 book - ''Thailand: Deadly Destination'' which systematically lists the innumerable ways foreigners die in Thailand. Based on his research Stapleton presents an extremely compelling argument that Thailand is 'THE most dangerous country in the world to visit'.
However, if you find that unconvincing - last year [May 2017] the World Economic Forum cited Thailand as the 19th most dangerous country on the planet - but added the caveat that in particular respects [ie; driving on Thailand's notoriously lethal roads] your chances of meeting death are vastly increased.
In November 2015, the New York Times reported that in the fiscal year ending September 2015, the Royal Thai Police had seen a surge in thefts and robberies to more than 75,557 - 10.5 per cent higher than the previous year. Violent crime was up 8.6 percent during the same period - as evidenced by the savage and racially motivated 2017 beating of a holidaying British family (Lewis and Rosemary Owen, 68 and 65, and their 43 year-old son) in the crowded main street of Hua Hin. There have been no less than a dozen totally unexplained and mysterious deaths of foreigners on Koh Tao island. Thailand's 'corruption ranking' has risen by 30 places since the totally incompetent leader General Prayut came to power in 2014.
Thailand's record on Human Rights is so abysmal, that your own ex-President [Barak Obama] down-graded Thailand to a level 2 and summarily cancelled all financial and economic aid. To put this into context - up until then, Thailand had enjoyed extremely friendly and preferential treatment from the Americans due to its historical alliance of more than 50 years - since the Vietnam war. As one of Thailand's major investors, the USA massively scaled back on its association with a country that repeatedly flaunts international law on human trafficking, civil liberties, freedom of speech as well as its appalling justice system [ie; Thailand's draconian and invidious lese majeste and anti-defamation laws].
On top of all this Thailand is an overtly and systemically racist country - where Thais do very little to disguise their utter contempt for foreigners unless they are getting money from them. Yet it gladly welcomes criminals, pedophiles, scam artists, con-men and other forms of low-life scum with open arms. (in 2016 a leaked US State Department internal memo named Thailand as the 'number 1 country for extradition of serious and violent criminals'].
I could go on - but what's the point with someone so intellectually challenged as you obviously are. However, I strongly suggest that in future you do some research and Google the meaning of the word ''TRUTH'' before posting your moronic comments on a country and society you clearly know nothing about.

I think you're not realizing that I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I'm not going to respond to you more than this because to me it feels like a waste of time, you have your mind made up and won't be coming, which I'm happy to hear. Hope you feel better soon and that ranting on my video has helped you to blow off some steam.

+Jason Fonger........I do apologise, I didn't realise that you were a retard [as well as being intellectually challenged, an ADHD sufferer and dyslexic!]. Just what don't you understand about the precise and detailed information I gave - and that you are unable to credential? [I give you all the sources FFS!]
As for them being 'issues' [jeez, you're the master of understatement aren't you!?!] So what you are saying is that is perfectly ok to live in/visit a country and among a people that very obviously DO NOT want you there - but if you are - make you suffer outrageous levels of over-paying, prejudice and discrimination, unable to express your opinions freely, be subjected on a daily basis to uneducated low-life scum and criminals whose only purpose in life is to cheat others and receive absolutely no justice if you are due to the incredibly high levels of corrupt police, justice and other government officials!!
When you wake up I suggest you go and LIVE in Thailand - not just do silly little holiday v-blog trips there lounging around on beaches, visiting temples, eating Tom Yam soup, doing fake Wais and 'going native' for a week. Thailand IS a seriously dangerous country and contrary to your blinkered and narrow-minded perspective IT IS NOT 'the same as many other countries' on so many levels it's off the scale.
I have LIVED in Asia for over 25 years and can promise you that although there are arguably other dangerous and corrupt countries here [the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam et al] there are also countries that are among the safest, most law-abiding, orderly and well-governed on the planet! [ie: Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong].
Other totally false claims you make - numbers of tourist visitors to Thailand have dramatically fallen [NOT increased] in the past few years. British visitors alone have decreased from 1 million in 2016 to 500,000 in 2017. The reasons cited is the unparalleled rise in crime and violence, artificially high Thai Baht and the fact that Thailand no longer caters to the needs of modern-day travellers and holiday makers. [only to morons like you it would seem?]
On corruption - please refer to the following link - https://www.business-anti-corruption.com/country-profiles/thailand [published by global corruption monitoring agency GAN] who along with leading anti-corruption organisation Transparency International - have voiced serious concerns over the levels of corruption in the Kingdom to such an extent Thailand has risen in the 'corruption league table' by 30 places.
Your sweeping [largely unsubstantiated and wholly misleading] generalisations based on one-week's exposure to the crime-infested, scurrilously corrupt shithole that Thailand is truly are staggeringly infantile and insulting to those [such as myself] that know infinitely more on the topic. And your begrudging examples of 'issues' with Thailand illustrate exactly why it is SO dangerous. [did you ever ask yourself WHY there are so many road deaths, violent people and Thai women that are so easily available for a few dollars? No doubt this kind of lateral thinking escapes your pea-brained mind!]
However, the answer is simple. Thailand is completely unregulated and people can set up as anything they want there with absolutely no controls. So you get totally unqualified, untrained and unlicensed property agents, lawyers, financial advisers, restauranteurs, jet-ski proprietors, car/motor-bike renters etc etc etc. This very rarely happens in any 'civilised' country. In fact in some countries [eg UK and Europe, USA etc] there are SO many controls and regulations it's like mission impossible starting a business!
Coupled with this is the fact that the Thais are the 'kings of hypocrisy' - so deep-seated and large-scale industries such as prostitution [which is actually illegal in Thailand] are openly operated, free from police intervention or prosecution. The parlous road safety measures are never enforced [wearing a helmet seems to be more of a fashion statement than a safety measure] and a wholly ineffectual and incompetent police force are more focused on setting up illegal roadblocks so they can fleece innocent motorists.
In conclusion sir - you are an ignoramus not only for your complete untruths about Thailand but for gross misrepresentation of Thailand as a safe destination. As you say, 'this is the way the internet is' - so self-serving and misguided fools such as you can post whatever nonsense they want. But if you had any sense of decency or concern for others you would immediately stop spreading these stupid claims, do some research, try living in the country and take your big fat head out of your arse for one second!

https://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/1033702-headless-corpse-found-floating-in-the-sea-off-pattaya/

+chonburi11 .......I hope you don't take this the wrong way [and I apologise in advance for any misunderstanding I may cause] but you seem unusually honest and fair-minded for a Thai. Most Thais we met are living in a complete state of denial and the minute you mention what a cesspool Thailand is they become extremely hostile.
Now to be frank it is fair to say that most people take umbrage with 'outsiders' criticising and disrespecting their country and people - but most will begrudgingly accept that criticism if it's true. [I am British and it's a national pastime in my country to slag off everything about it - from the weather to the price of beer!]
However Thais deliberately perpetuate the myths about their country by never accepting anyone saying anything negative about Thailand - even if it is staring them right in the face. One obvious example of this is the appalling numbers of road deaths - yet if you raise the subject with a Thai, more than likely, their response will be - 'well, if you don't like it f**k off back to your own country!'
But perhaps even worse than this are utterly misguided and misinformed foreigners [such as the cretin that posted this original video - Jason Fonger] who visit Thailand for a week, lounge around on some idyllic beach or spend their time visiting temples and wai-ing all and sundry in a pathetic attempt to 'go native'. Based on their extremely narrow and limited perspective - they produce wholly inaccurate videos such as this one which present a totally false picture of the real Thailand.
In my opinion, these sad little publicity seekers are extremely dangerous - the only way to force Thais to improve their country is to hit them in the pocket. If tourist numbers, foreign investment, businesses and joint ventures were to dramatically decline as a result of the rampant levels of crime and corruption in the country - maybe [just maybe] the powers that be in Thailand might act.
Having been victims of Thailand's abject justice system and ruthless criminals working in total collusion with Thai government agencies and courts - my wife and I are determined to expose and warn others or the very real and serious dangers of not only visiting but living in Thailand. Idiots like Jason Fonger do a great disservice to the 'Truth' by brainwashing uninitiated foreigners to buy into his unsubstantiated bile.

no, same here i live in sweden now but i grew up in thailand, sweden is considered ''dangerous'' by non swedish residents they say that sweden is ruined because of migrants and refugees and the crime rate is exploding, yet we have never been victim of crime here in sweden and we live in a ''no-go'' area with many imigrants it is about 60% imigrants in the whole city, and swedes are fleeing sweden because of the crime and unsafety i laugh when i see/hear that they move to thailand because it is cheap/hot/safe they say there is more crime happening in sweden in 1 day than in 7 days in thailand they are stupid to think so. in thailand i also lived in the same city as you i personaly know 3 people who have been shot and 2 stabbed, we have had 5 break ins in our house (there was missing bars on 3 windows at that time) 2 bikes stolen from us, and my mom have been targeted for snatch robbery but they failed 2 times near our home we dont live in gated community.

+chonburi11......having lived in a region of China for over 20 years which is regularly named in the 'top 3 safest countries in the world' - I can promise you that Thailand lags far behind! In our first year of living in Thailand, an Australian thug, gang member and violent criminal was literally beaten and tortured to death a few doors away from our home.
Approx 9 months later, piece of shit scammer and fraudster [Tony Kenway] was murdered hit style' as he left his gym club - again, not faraway from where we lived. We saw more murders, beatings, crime and disorder in 3 years of living in Thailand than we saw in the entire previous 20 years. However, given the large criminal population, seriously ineffective police and justice system - is it any wonder?

+Sam Jones......I lived in China for 20 years and always thought the Chinese were the most racist people I had ever encountered - until I went to Thailand! Racism in Thailand is endemic, constitutional and pervades every facet of their society.
I actually have a photo of a sign in a public hos[ital. that states -'Charges are 50% more for all foreigners'! If you displayed such a sign in the UK - the Race Relations Board would close you down and prosecute you with 24 hours!

The truth? the truth is that you are correct, people are murdered and hurt, commit suicide in all places on earth. But in Thailand, the tourists are targets. the tourists carry on like drunken, disrespectful twats the majority of the time, so even though Thai people are dependant on tourism as an industry, they have come to have a deep-seated hatred for westerners. Tourists are targets. They are outnumbered rich kids, and criminals in Thailand don't just murder and kill one another, they target rich, disrespectful westerners. We are nothing and no-one to them. We are walking ATMs. If you see the way relatively rich westerners behave over there, you can see why westerners are targets. So yes. If you're a western tourist, you are in danger when in Thailand. You need to be very careful of your words and of your behaviour, or you are very likely to find yourself in big trouble.

death from vehicle accident rating in 2015 thailand is the first .

Not sure if you are being sarcastic, have a tongue-in-cheek-moment or doesnt have a clue at all, but here goes:
You may want to check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate
Play around with what parameters you want to see. Pay attention to the column "Road fatalities per 100 000 inhabitants /year".
For Thailand its 36.2 Same number for the UK is 2.9 For the US its 10.6 Go figure....

The main reason for Thailand being so close to the top of the list is (in my eyes) mainly because Thai authorities dont care to much about drunk /drugged drivers as long as they dont cause an accident.
If you are drunk /drugged and do cause an accident then that is a whole other story.

Is Thailand Dangerous? Yes it is, but (as you said) you only present YOUR 'truth' unfortunately without any facts or numbers. Thailand’s roads second deadliest in the world: World Health Organization: http://bangkok.coconuts.co/2015/10/21/thailands-roads-second-deadliest-world-world-health-organization So who you think is right? And yes, there is a higher risk if you drive a motorbike (or car) in Thailand, probably at the first places inexperience, after that because the Thai people don't care about the rules (or don't know the rules) combined with there poor driving skills. There is 1 important rule in Thailand, and that is the law of the largest ;). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=870qANOVTVw

It is really a joke to get your driver’s license in Thailand, i've got them for a car and motorbike! Many Thais don't know how to drive (for example, they don't look in the mirror but just go), don't blame them because they never learned it good (i don't speak about the professional drivers, but even there you will find idiots). The dead numbers are in fact higher than they present, because they only count the dead at the scene and not the people who were brought to a hospital and lost their lives there or on the way to the hospital! http://bangkok.coconuts.co/2016/08/19/transport-officials-will-make-drivers-license-test-harder-it

The most important thing you need to do in the traffic is anticipate, don't think they follow the rules, most of them don't know the rules or just ignore them.....

been driving cars or trucks over twenty years, wouldn't feel comfortable driving an automobile in Thailand, so I definitely wouldn't drive a motorbike, traffic laws aren't strictly enforced like in the western world, thais treat traffic laws like a suggestion, so you need alot of observation and learning before driving anything as a foreigner

+Jason Fonger hello Jason, I've been hearing and reading that Thailands overuse and abuse of pesticides and such on their produce is extremely high and way over recommended levels and therefore leading to higher than normal levels when consumed, since you're in Thailand and are a vegan, can you look into this and make a vlog about it, is it as safe as many other countries or not

Booze has never been a good smart choice for anyone...I haven't touched the sauce in over a decade and even then I only drank socially. I've always enjoyed Cannabis and use it when I need to relax. Even though it slows me down a bit I have never made a horrible decision like most do when drinking.
It also could be that I witnessed two of my friends from high school die because they decided to jump on a rice rocket and show off for the party. The house we were partying at was on a dead end road and they were going so fast the driver couldn't stop and the bike dumped and they slid under a parked car and the bike caught fire. I've never seen anything that gruesome since. I do believe that had some impact on my drinking...

TheSoulTwins I don’t know we are hearing pretty bad things in California and Sf... now I haven’t been to these places but I know that a lot of places are now dangerous in America .... we have more and more stuff going under media’s noses and that’s not including lies that the media purposely tell people to hide something very bad that even political figures do... no one is perfect everyone committed a crime once in their life from stealing a candy bar to jail walking or turning without signaling... we have all done one of these things. But still politicians seem to have good history of doing very worse of theses things like child pornography and trafficking weapons. It’s because politicians seem to have lots more capability to do more wrong and get away with it than anyone else and that’s because political parties back them and protect them... Hillary with Haiti and Hillary Clinton with nuclear arms deal with Russia which I remind you non of the money was ever given to the government but to Hillary Clinton personally... the check was recovered shortly after and found it saying a write out to her name. Than mysteriously after being documented the check disappeared.

My work cost between 200-1400 American dollars per piece. I however would give you my product for free. No this isn’t a scam I’m an artist who works for a very good portrait company.
