wrong tanks decripted in the scene. The tanks involved were: M4A1 76, not M4A4 (this variant did not enter widespread service in US Army), and Panther Ausf.A, not Ausf.G

We're all either brave or stupid for putting up with each other's bullshit the way we do. 7 billion motherfuckers on earth... they all hate me as much as I hate them. Warfare is the most honest expression of true human emotion. No one wants to admit it, but we ALL love the hostility. We make fuckin games devoted to this! Watch in morbid glee as people get ripped apart by jagged steel moving at hundreds of meters per second. Everyone of us has a favorite gun, tank or war hero... an opinion on whether the Jewish holocaust actually occurred. War has been happening for thousands of years, as long as we have had hands we have used them to kill each other for hunting grounds or spite. Now it's oil this and capitalist lies that. Fuck all that. People will use the flimsiest excuse to lock and load and kill. Moralize all you want with your SJW lameness... pathetic. Denial is the refuge of the weak and frightened.

cross If anyone doubts this, have a peek at the majority of movies on the trending list on Netflix. Mostly on the Nazis, wars, serial killers, etc.

The Sherman commander did not survive - he died of his wounds/shock soon afterward. Sherman crews were brave - the tank was not built for fighting other tanks (US tank warfare doctrine was for tank destroyers to take on enemy armour) but supporting infantry and breaking through - as they had to fight German tanks that were better armed and armoured. Numerical superiority does not mean much when it is your vehicle that is in the cross hairs...

sherman gun 75mm not 76mm 76mm are log barrell

That's not brave. That's stupid. You lost the war and now you lose your life for nothing. The whole war was stupid. All soldiers lose in war. The best result is that you are alive after the war. That's not an improvement. All other results make your life much worse or even cost your life. People don't have a better life during war times. They have a better life during peace times. Think about it. NATO is awesome because german guys don't fight against US guys anymore. That's the right way. Learn to appreciate the value of life and don't glorify stupid wars.

No the good comparison would be Pershing vs T 34 85 Panther outclasses Pershing in every aspect but this pershing was with lateral facing them and its normal to be penetrated

The first panther which is D had this problem with the traverse speed but they fixed it in A and G

Nope the engine was rarely but rarely brokes you know german engineering is best but the germans were making tanks and had no time to test them out and they were directly send on the battlefield

ciohodaru daniel i dont know about better amour because they stopped face hardening the panthers amour. Fast reload is really debatable. Turret traverse would be a nope the panther with the stupid pto setup would not be faster than the pershing. The pershing engine problem was fan belts and that really didnt come around till korea. The panther on the other hand were know to set themselves on my fire from a terrible engine design so engines are a wash. Better optics is debatable also.

like panther has more force in penetration even if Pershing has a 90 mm cannon doesnt matter the panther has better velocity, better armor much sloped, its faster on reload, faster turn speed, faster turret traverse, better optics, better engine

ciohodaru daniel Panther outclasses it in everything like what?

I think it says something about the tanks in this battle if AFTER BEING HIT, the crew was able to still evacuate a tank.

Still wondering why that Panther gave his weakly armored side to the Pershing...But too many variables we dont know about I guess...

I can say something. The daughter of the captain of the panther said that his parent told her he and his crew didnt shot the pershing due the thing they didn't know the Pershing, they never saw it, so they were afraid to possibly shot a german tank, so they waited (but they surprised him), so the pershing gained the time to shot them. "His daughter, however, told in the documentary "Köln 1945 Nahaufnahmen" that her father had told the family during his lifetime, the tank that had appeared in that situation on the street corner, would have been a German tank. He probably expected a Sherman tank and the tank was not a Sherman tank. So he was very surprised. And so it is clear that Bartelborth had not give the order to fire because he did not recognize the Pershing as an American tank immediately." (anycursor.com is the font).

Stupid yanks always put their nose where they shouldn't, even to this day! (Iraq, Syria and many many more)
Leg blown off because he was a fkn invader, great example for "heroes" that want to copy his actions.

Sad stuff and so close to the end of the war, how many lives would have been spared if the Nazis had stopped fighting when it was obvious to them that the war was hopelessly lost.

The war isn't good..

I'm trying to find just the combat footage does anyone know where just the fighting scene is? I've seen at least twelve different documentaries on the one encounter lol

Reading world war 2 comments on YouTube and Instagram comments really hurt my mind sometimes with all the myths out there that are constantly perpetuated in said comments. Especially involving tanks.

Third hit was unnecessary the Panther was already on fire.To bad they did not get the crew.

The German tank just killed 3 of 5 in the Sherman, of course they are going to shot the Panther crew down.

The guy with his leg missing is climbing out of the gunner's hatch. The "gunner" is climbing out of the commander's hatch

+Chris Smith

Ok your description of the gunner's I mistook as you referring to the Panther.

The Sherman, unless he was all ready out on top of the turret when the camera started filming, in which case it was just bad wording by the video editor. On a sherman turret, looking from that angle (behind) the gunner's hatch is on the left, the commander's is on the right

None the less it is absolutely tragic what those men went through

Which tank?

Scheiß Amerikaner und Russen Kriegsverbrecher

Sherman was a good tank but the fuel... using gasoline you need a large reservatory to have a minimum range, it means american boys burning alive... And the gun - a weak 76mm was not good enough to face the superb german 88mm. It's hard to say it but is true.

> "Sherman was a good tank but the fuel... using gasoline you need a large reservatory to have a minimum range, ... it means american boys burning alive..."

The fuel made no difference in combat.

These wonderful images deserves a better sound! Something classic and glorious! Thanks!

That tank commander with its leg blown off, it was horrible and the most shocking thing is that besides the commander and gunner all of the others died!

+Chewbacca

The Assistant Driver Cpl. Oliver Griffin survived. 2nd Lt. Karl Kellner, the man who lost his leg, died of his wounds within the hour. The driver Pfc. Julian Patricks, given his wounds, was likely killed by the coax fire, or the concussion of the 2nd penetration.

I heard on a tank chat only 4% of sherman crews were killed or injured in the war. The reputation is highly exaggerated. For infantry it was 18%. And man Germans... look at your cities. Just give up already

WAR SOMEONE CAUSES PROBLEMS, WAR IS NOT NECESSARY, AN DIALOG CAN SOLVE

The Pershing could blow holes in the Panzer tanks, but the Sherman's shells bounced off. Our men deserved better than the Sherman tanks but that is never discussed.

they got out really quick they are trained to get out very very quick thats amazing footage they just needed a couple of seconds to escape

Sound not required!

Any Sherman could have killed the panther from that same angle.

the panthers loader was killed in the first hit, the gunner was climbing out the tank when the second shot hit and blew his legs off making him fall back inside the tank..

Shermans were the Edsel of tanks. Cheap, unreliable, underpowered, no armour POS.

+Billy Smith

Based on what?

Nathan Peterson Sherman tanks were complete garbage. The only good thing they had going for them was there was plenty of them, just like the plague. Total crap tanks.

+Billy Smith

You are quite mistaken. The M4 was a very reliable and mobile vehicle. With very appreciable armor compared to any of its contemporaries.

The Sherman Tank commander with half his leg blown off...the Panthers gunner climbing out of the main hatch when that second hit fucked him. ...the brutal reality of war and you can understand why returned soldiers didn't want to talk about it !

Did the cameraman use a diesel powered camera?

Anybody who steps into a tank is brave. Allowing yourself into a tight claustrophobic fighting compartment that could well be your coffin and your death bed in one takes courage. All tank crew have my respect.

Most tanks had better survival rates, not just in raw numbers, but per destroyed unit (vehicle) than infantry.

3 hit, phershing have no power? Crew drunken?
